Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award- Final Five nominees released!

The shortlist of nominees for Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award– given in recognition of a new talent destined for great success, awarded at this years BAFTA Awards has now been announced!

Previous winners to this prestigious award include the likes of Tom Hardy, Noel Clarke, Eva Green, Kristen Stewart, Shia LaBeouf and James McAvoy. Jurors including Sienna Miller, Harry Potter Director David Yates, Simon Pegg and others whittled a list down to eight possible contenders and you, the public agonized over our who we wanted to see in our final five. Now we need to decide on a winner!

Adam Deacon: Rising to fame in Noel Clarke’s Kidulthood, then starring in follow-up Adulthood and again working with Clarke in 4.3.2.1. Adam has made his mark on the film industry by co-writing, directing and starring in Brit comedy Anuvahood.

Chris Hemsworth: Chris became an overnight success after landing the title role in film version of Marvel’s Thor and he will also star in The Avengers this year. Starring next in Snow White And The Huntsman opposite Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron, he will also play Formula One driver James Hunt in Ron Howard’s Rush.

Chris O’Dowd: Chris began his career in the cult series The IT Crowd before breaking into film with The Boat That Rocked, Gulliver’s Travels and Bridesmaids. Chris will starring next in Judd Apatow’s This Is 40 alongside Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann.

Eddie Redmayne: After receiving critical acclaim on the West End and Broadway, Eddie burst into film in My Week With Marilyn alongside Michelle Williams, Dame Judi Dench and Kenneth Branagh. Recently finishing filming Birdsong, the BBC adaptation of the acclaimed novel by Sebastian Faulks, he will soon be starring in the film version of the musical Les Miserables.

Tom Hiddleston: RADA graduate Tom broke onto the big screen earlier this year in Kenneth Branagh’s Thor. His recent projects include Woody Allen’s film Midnight In Paris, Spielberg’s War Horse, and The Deep Blue Sea with Rachel Weisz. Tom will be seen in The Avengers in May 2012.

The OWRSA will be awarded at the BAFTA ceremony on 12 February 2012.
